On the 4th day of our trip in Davao, we decided to go swimming at Blue Jaz Resort and Waterpark. Since Tito Frank and Tita Nelia were going to attend a birthday party in Samal Highlands that Sunday, we decided that to hitch a ride to the Island Garden City of Samal.
Ferry to Samal Island
Blue Jaz is one of the more popular and accessible beach resorts in Samal Island, the other being Paradise Beach Resort where we had our swimming during our previous trip to Davao. Visitors who choose not to bring their own cars over to the Island may board Blue Jaz’ Pirate Ship themed ferry at the resort’s designated dock located near the Beach Side Resort and Maryknoll Road. The trip will take just 3 to 5 minutes. First trip from Davao to the resort is at 6:00AM and the last trip back to Davao is at 5:00PM, for a fare of P15.00 per person.

Aside from its reputed white sand beach and clear waters, Blue Jaz offers kiddie pools, one with a fountain and the other with slides. There is also a zipline for those who would like to feel some adrenaline rush, which at that time were being enjoyed mostly by kids. Do not expect too much of the zipline since the ride just covers more or less than 200 meters. Watersport activities like diving and snorkeling are also offered in Blue Jaz. Free wi-fi access is also available in the resort.

The resort’s main draw however is the big pool with gigantic slides ala Splash Island. While entrance fee to the resort is pegged at P100.00, you likewise need to pay P90.00 should you wish to try the famed big sldies. An additional P100.00 is also needed for the lifesaver should you wish to make use of the same. However, this is not really required since we were able to enjoy the slide even without the benefit of a lifesaver.
