Southern Jaunt V - Tribu K' Mindanawan

Adjacent to the Davao Crocodile Park is the Tribu K’Mindanawan – Cultural Village. It is a place devoted to showcasing the culture and the arts not only of the Davao Region but the whole of Mindanao as well.

Pictures showing different ethnic costumes of Mindanaoans are displayed right before the entrance. A shop is also available for visitors to buy mementos and souvenirs. Scenes from daily life, including their local customs and traditions are provided throughout the area. Informative facts that are readily made available will guide visitors throughout the entire visit.

Every Fridays to Sundays, just before dusk has fully given way to the darkness of the night, one would not miss hearing the beat of the drums gamely played at the entrance. The cultural presentation follows at the stage auspiciously located beneath bamboo trees, which further adds that distinct edifying touch to the area. Just be sure to go there early so as to ensure that you will have the best seats. The published time for the start of the cultural presentation is 5:45PM.

Heeeyyaaaahhhh!!!

At the cultural presentation, the audience is treated to difference dances gamely performed to the beat of ethnic instruments. A voice overview before the start of each performance conveys the history, details and meaning of the dance. It really helps in making the audience appreciate and understand the dance. As a final act, performers shall encourage the crowd to join in the dancing. In our case, Hunny, Tita Nelia, and Ivy gamely joined the dance party to the tune of "Kapayapaan" by Tropical Depression.

Singkil

At the end of the cultural presentation, the audience was asked to transfer to the amphitheater located near the tree house for the fireshow.

Though I have seen firedancers in Boracay before, I was totally awed by the different extraordinary routines of the performers. The stunts are not only nerve-wracking, they too were executed very artistically thereby making them pleasing to the eyes. It really is a sight to behold. Personally, I’d say the fireshow ROCKS!!!

Truly, you should not miss the fireshow at Tribu K’Mindanawan in case you get to visit Davao City because this is something that kids and old folks shall definitely enjoy.
