Tis' the time of the year to enjoy another weekend of everything that flies as the 16th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta is scheduled on February 10-13, 2011 at the the Clark Special Economic Zone in Angeles City, Pampanga.
Tickets are available at the gate for P150.00. In case you want to ride the balloons, go straight to the Information Booth and prepare to cough up US$150.00 per person, just make sure that you come early as this is on a first come first served basis.
We really had a great time when we went to witness the event last year. We were so amazed by the balloons of different shapes that seem to float so effortlessly in the sky. But I'd say that the Turtle Balloon is certainly my favorite.
To make your trip more enjoyable, here are a few tips that I can share to you guys:
1. Ensure that you arrive at Clark at 5:00AM. Yuff, you might think that this must be early but I assure you, if you arrive there at 5:30, especially on weekends, you will find it hard to find parking for your car. Also, you will also be forced to endure heavy traffic as you make your way inside Clark.
2. You can bring your own food with you, although there are a lot of stalls / food booths around. Sounds like food tripping, anyone?
3. Bring your own tent should you decide to stay for the whole day. It can really get so hot if the weather is not cloudy as no immediate shade are available for everyone.
4. On the other hand, you might as well choose to go to the malls like SM City Clark and Marquee Mall or just explore Clark from 10:00AM to 4:00PM. Just make sure that you go back before the the scheduled fireglow at dusk. Personally, I think this is one of the highlights of the event.
5. Wear comfortable clothing and bring extra clothes as much as possible.
6. Do not forget to bring your sunblock with you.
7. Bring family and/or friends with you. The event certainly presents a very good way for families and friends to bond together.
