Southern Jaunt VIII - Blue Carabao Eatery

After our brief visit in Panabo City, we decided to have lunch before we go to Camp Sabros in Digos City. It took us only about five minutes from Palm Village to reach Blue Carabao Eatery.

It was so surprising that while Blue Carabao considers itself an eatery that specializes in serving carabao meat, they also offer an extensive array of dishes most of which you cannot find at even the most posh canteens/cafeterias in Manila. By golly, it will give Sandy’s Cuisine and Lola’s, two of the most patronized in our cafeteria at The Enterprise Center in Makati, a beating in this aspect.
Usually packed with customers

Though set in the usual carinderia by the road atmosphere, the food is tastefully prepared, pleasingly served, and unquestionably delicious. We were told by Tita Nelia and Tito Frank that it was Ken who discovered the place. And that even Lola, who they claim has a distinct taste for good food, approves that Blue Carabao serves delectable chow. Also, they serve generous servings for every food that you order turo-turo style, which is good for 2 to 3 persons depending of course on how hungry you are. Their very efficient and friendly crew is also always on hand to assist you.

Yummy sarap
Delicious
Tito Frank...let's chow

Most of all, the food at Blue Carabao is very affordable as we only paid less than P500.00 for that eat-all you can feeling (for 7 very hungry persons), inclusive of more than enough soda. (Wahaha…I actually wished then I had a container where to put that remaining soda so that I can drink it on the way to Digos). As indicated in their website, “we only paid for the food that we ate”. And of course, their great service is just an icing on the cake.

wow...kinilaw
the food is just great

Ah, this is one of the things that I miss of Davao City.

  1. Hi,this is Francis and Sherry Scott, owners of the Blue Carabao. It looks like you folks had a great time at the Blue Carabao, lol. When we see lots of empty plates on the table,it is the best compliment.
Next time you come to Davao, you will not find the Blue Carabao Eatery as we have to close the restaurant due to a 80% space rental increase. We started the "Blue Carabao Eatery" to make good jobs for people, jobs with benefits and we are proud to say that we are one of the few restaurants that offer fulltime employment with legal wage and benefits.
Our landlady sees lots of customers and thinks that we are rolling in peso but she fails to realize that most share meal with at least two other people.
So it is greed that forces the Blue Carabao Eatery to close, putting 20 people out of work.
If you are interested to sample the same food again,we invite you to the "Blue Carabao Diner" on the corner of Monteverde and Alvarez, very close to Magsaysay Park and all the local dive shop.
From Sherry and i,plus our Blue Crew,we thank you for your visit and your kind words,we are humbled.

  2. Hi Francis / Sherry, the closure of Blue Carabao Eatery is really not good news especially with the reason why it had to. Good thing you stil have the Blue Carabao Diner.

We'll surely visit your Diner when we go back to Davao. Hopefully you'll be able to find another place for the Eatery...your food is just great.

    More power to Blue Carabao.

  4. I really was not able to keep track of the price...but since we paid less than P500 for everything...a good estimate would be P50.00-P60.00 each.
