CamSur I - CamSur Watersports Complex (CWC); Lago Del Rey; Bigg's Diner

Exactly a year since our Coron Adventure, we are together at it again. Just like before, it was a decision made at the spur of the moment. Never mind the ifs and forget the buts. So when I saw that AirPhilExpress has an on-going seat sale last August, and after Ais and Gani have confirmed their decision to go with us, I immediately booked 4 tickets to Naga City.

Hello Friends

Yes, CamSur here we come.

Though our trip hit a snag initially, our 6:00AM flight got delayed for over 3 hours because as we were told, it is raining cats and dogs in Naga City at that time, we were fortunate to be treated to a bevy of stars in the airport as a number of singers/actors/actresses have separate concerts in CamSur and were in the same flight with us.

As we approach Naga Airport in Pili, we felt a little disappointed seeing the landscape being clearly bombarded by monsoon rains. And it seemed that the clouds will stay there for eternity.

We had to abort our initial plan of going straight to Caramoan. First, since travel to Sabang Port from Naga will take us about 1 ½ to 2 hours travel and the last trip to Guijalo Port leaves Sabang at 11AM. Second, the rainy weather makes the boat ride a lot more perilous, besides island hopping will be doubly hard to enjoy if it is raining. Hence, we decided to go straight to Camsur Watersports Complex (CWC) instead.

Ahhh...pouring rain

We were searching for a ride going to CWC and were about to haggle with a taxi, fortunately the porter at the arrival area heard us and informed us that there is a free shuttle to CWC. I don’t know if it’s usual for CWC, including the other hotels in Naga such as Villa Caceres to have their own shuttle stationed at the airport to ferry even those who do not have reservations with them. So just ask around.

At CWC, all the trailers and Cabanas are fully booked because of the concert nearby. That left us with no choice but to go for the much pricier wood cabin. For P4,000.00 for 4 persons, it is somewhat expensive for those who are on a budget.

Nice

After settling our things, we went to eat at the restaurant. I went for the Kare-kare, Hunny ordered Tinola, Ais craved for pasta carbonara, and Gani, he wanted ‘em all. Hahaha. We enjoyed the food, though we are really not that hard to please when it comes to our gastronomic sense. All in all, I’d say that it is competitively priced and worth every penny.

Ride a Board

Since there were a lot of wakeboarders who perform stunts while we were having lunch, we decided that Beginners like us have no room to wakeboard at that time, lest we want ourselves to be the laughingstock of CWC.

As an alternative, we made up our mind to go a for a dip at Lago del Rey and enjoy all the inflatables in this man-made lake. Half-day rate is pegged at P200.00, but since it was raining at that time we expected to get cold after swimming. Hence, we went for the 1 hour swimming for just P120.00, with the lifevest already included.

Jumpin' Around

We really had fun at the trampoline. We only had laughter after each bump and hump. As to the other inflatables, they were really not that easy to climb over. You would need dexterity and all the upper body strength that you can muster.

Heeyaa...tigidig-tigidig

Enjoy

Welcome to Lago del Rey

Making the most of our time, we decided to conquer the Iceberg and jump from the top. Admittedly, it was one of the greatest jumps I ever had in my life, definitely an experience of a lifetime.

After a brief rest and picture taking around the Wood Cabin area, we decided to go to Naga City. CWC has available shuttle busses / vans to and from Naga City for free. Just inquire about the time of each shuttle’s departure at the front desk, and it is also better for you to make reservations in advance. The usual drop-off and pick-up point is at the SM City.

Our Ride

We were very fortunate that our driver was very gracious to drive us to Bigg’s Diner in Magsaysay Avenue, Naga City’s answer to Timog Avenue/Tomas Morato in Quezon City and Jupiter Street in Makati.

For dinner, we ordered one extreme supreme burger each aside from the Bigg Deal (Chicken, Barbeque and Spaghetti meal) for our main course. The burgers at Bigg’s are one of the best in the Country and their chicken is a blast. Their Rock n’ Roll Iced Tea is also worth trying.

Bigg Deal

Though Bigg’s Diner has branches only in Bicolandia, I can say that the food they offer is even better than those of your usual foreign and local fastfood chains. So when in Bicol, make it certain to eat at Bigg’s Diner.
