Doggie Run 2011

Running as a sport has become popular in Manila nowadays. Almost every weekend, different events are organized in the different parts of the Metro. However, the ultimate running event for dog-lovers was held last March 26, 2011 at the Mall of Asia. Aptly called Doggie Run 2011, this run with your dog event was made possible by Pet Express.

In our case, Hunny was able to register Lucho for free since the Animal Health Care Unit of their Company was one of the sponsors.

We were already at the MOA grounds just before the call time of 4:30AM. There were booths offering freebies for dogs and pet owners alike. A photobooth was even set up to provide additional thrill to the participants. Dogs of different breeds such as the more popular shih tzu, chihuahua, and labrador, including those with azkal blood participated.

Lucho: "My bite is bigger than yours."

Lucho was dog No. 037, and together with Hunny were entered in the 3K run. Actually, we thought Lucho was too big for the 1K run and it will be too punishing for Hunny to run the 5K. Though lacking in exercise, running is not a problem for Lucho. He certainly packs lots of energy.

It was really a fun-event, a great day for dog-lovers but an even more wonderful day for canines. Water stations were provided around the course area for both dogs and pet owners. Loot bags were likewise given to finishers. A program was also held at the finish line to culminate the event.

Doggie Run 2011 is really a success. We will nonetheless rest on our laurels. Lucho will definitely go for a Top 10 finish next year…woof woof.
